Servers work 24/7 as the heart of your computer network. Your server must be properly maintained to run smoothly, minimize downtime and avoid potential loss of data. Preventative maintenance can often minimize the effects of a minor potential server failure from turning into a severe disaster which can last days, affecting you and your user’s ability to login to your computers and have access to email, internet, files and programs. This critical piece of hardware requires regular maintenance and monitoring.
The monthly Server Maintenance Support Plan includes:
Verify and test that server(s) backups are working If the need arises, this will ensure that your latest files can be restored
Check disk usage and clean up old files If If your server’s hard dives get full, your server can stop responding and cause data loss
Monitor RAID status (if applicable) Your RAID hard drives will be monitored for failure and failed drives immediately replaced* avoiding a server crash
Keep your OS updated with latest security updates Microsoft frequently releases security updates and patches. Staying on top of these updates is imperative to minimize the risk of security threats
Review system log files Monitor log files for potential software and or hardware issues and stop a small problem from turning into a big one
Monitor server utilization As your company grows so should your equipment. If you are nearing limits, you may need to plan on adding resources to your server or migrating to a new one
Security risk assessments Run security checks to look for potential risks and or security breaches and take appropriate action
